Branimira Kovačević

Vice President of the Competition Council, Croatian Competition Agency

Branimira Kovačević, economist, has a masters degree in Contemporary European studies and has started her career at the Government Office for European Integration. She joined Croatian Competition Agency in 2002, where she started as case handler, then oversaw international and European affairs for many years and is currently vice-president of the Council. Prior to the Croatian accession to the EU, she was involved in the accession negotiations and was responsible for preparing and implementing a series of assistance projects in the field of competition and state aid. She has overseen the cooperation with the European Commission and relevant national competition authorities within the European Competition Network (ECN). She was also a team leader in the EU assistance project – a twinning light project in Montenegro during 2018 and 2019. From 2020 until 2022 she was the head of the national working group for the preparation and negotiation of the Digital Markets Act within the EU Council working group and is currently deputy member of the intergovernmental working group for negotiation of Croatian accession to the OECD.
